2005-07-26 [Whim]: Well, you rarely see it cause Sunrose and Hedda like to keep such matters on the forums, but every so often, a guard does something wrong, but thinks he’s right, so you have guards arguing with eachother about what would have been the right course of action. You can always tell when it happens because it gets mentioned on the guards or council page. You don’t see the conflict, really, but you do see it when someone like Sunrose steps up to explain the situation to the general public.

2005-07-26 [Whim]: that’s true. I love my ibook...hehe. But Mac is going through a big thing where their processors are being replaced with pentium processors, so you may want to wait for that to finish up cause I’m not sure what the major changes between the two could be.

2005-07-26 [Tear]: I would much rather get a G5 processor then anything from Pentium. Any of the G series processors from mac can handle a lot more stress then any pentium. I might get a dual processor with a g5 series chip and a pentium 4 just to see how it handles.

2005-07-26 [Whim]: Well, recently, pentium has been shaping up cause it’s had real competition from AMD and Mac has been slowly growing in popularity, so the G4/G5 processors have been gaining notability as well. The major problem comes in when you consider that people use the new pentium macs may not be able to use all the software that was available on a G4/G5 mac.

2005-07-26 [Tear]: That is only because Intel decided to stop producing new pentium series chips, so they can work on the bugs of their older ones. They stopped at their latest 4.9 GHz processor and started debugging. And the Pentiums that are going to be put in macs are going to have to use a different file format for the Logic system. I forget what the file format is for mac, but I know it isn't NTSF or Fat32 like on a windows machine. I could always get a PC and put Knoppix 3.6 on it, and that will speed things up a ton.

2005-07-26 [Whim]: well, no matter what mac has in it, I think it’s a better machine. The biggest problem with a mac is compatibility, but unless you’re a big gamer--which I think you might be--a mac is probably always the way to go.

For gaming, it lacks the same type of graphics card compatabilities as a PC does, and Macs are very hard to upgrade to make them usable for gaming. i use it for my photshopping, and my music mixing. Anywho, i think we are taking too much room for this one convo.

2005-07-26 [Whim]: Yeah, that's what I meant. A gamer would want to go with a PC under most circumstances, but for productivity or just the internet and email, mac is better. And yeah, we have taken up lots of room, but it's educational and too late to turn back now.
